Applied Sweepers Tidying up the Night before

Stroll through your local town during the early hours of the daybreak and you will see a number of applied sweepers meandering around cleaning up the mess strewn around by all the shenanigans of the previous night. It’s an emblematic early morning setting, and it often conceals the litter trouble we encounter. We don’t often give litter a second thought as we take for granted it will all be tidied up for us.

Nevertheless, there is a sometimes imperceptible yet significant influence litter has in terms of controlling the mood of people. People are more liable to think a neighbourhood is lacking law and order if rubbish is strewn around, and so criminals see rubbish as a possible signal for an opportunity of a mugging or robbery. The same sign creates some concern in other people who are concerned they might be walking through a more dangerous neighbourhood and are concerned about possibly being attacked.

There’s also the impact on the aesthetic attraction of a location. Rubbish strewn about can give the appearance of a place looking run down even though it’s just been trashed by party revellers from the previous night. This can harm the reputation of a neighbourhood if people are only within the location for this specific time and only see it in its disorderly state.

There’s no purpose to drop rubbish if there are empty bins within the neighbourhood. If there is a lack of litter bins, or the litter bins that are there are overflowing, this is a problem to address the local council with. Littering has a damaging impact on everybody.
