No Contest
In Texas Hold ‘Em poker, every player wants to get as many chips as possible. And it takes chips to get chips. A big stack has a big advantage over other players, so building up your stack is your absolute priority.
How do you build a poker chip stack? Sure you might get lucky and hit a flop that builds a monster pot. But you’ll probably have to rely on strategy more than luck. Poker pundits all espouse aggression as the key to winning chips. And aggression is the usually the sole way to get what every player loves - the uncontested pot.
What casino games strategies can help you win with no contest? Look for flops that feature rag cards that have probably not hit anyone. When the pot is small, and there’s lots of checking around, then be aggressive and bet at the pot. Chances are good you’ll scoop it up. Even a small win is still more chips added to your stack. It’s worth risking a few chips to win a few more. Larger pots are more likely to be contested.
Position plays a big part in taking uncontested pots. Those in late position obviously have the advantage because if everyone checks, the last to bet can make a move and steal the pot. Early position also offers opportunities to win a pot unchallenged. If you’ve got good cards, then raise up the bet in attempt to win the pot without callers.
It is easier to win uncontested pots against tight players. A table where the playing is loose offers minimal opportunities for uncontested pots.
